When
you get to your reception you will receive an enthusiastic welcome
from your DJ/Reception Director, for you are now husband and wife.
Now its time to kick back, unwind, forget all the stress and
celebrate at your reception. After your first dance the music will
continue and you will be flooded with greetings from all the family
members and friends.
Music is the most memorable part of your reception.
Your guest will remember more about the music than the meal or the
cake, especially if the DJ did a great job. The main reason wedding
couples choose a DJ is the selection of music he can play spans
across all ages and tastes, but a good DJ will also act as your
master of ceremonies to help maintain the proper flow during the
reception. He will coordinate with your photographer to get all
the right pictures for your wedding album. I will consult with you
sometime before the wedding to discuss the desired order of events,
i.e. cutting the cake, the bouquet and garter toss and who will
make a toast. If the DJ is to introduce the entire wedding party,
I will go over all the names for the correct pronunciations.
Having
a DJ you can trust to handle all the duties is important, but where
we really earn our money is knowing what music will get the crowd
on the dance floor. Traditionally, guest will not dance until after
the bride and groom have their first dance. In most cases, the DJ
will kick off the dance portion of your reception after any special
dances. This gets the guests up and on the dance floor so that they
dont begin to feel left out.
What helps the most is using the attached
music list to provide the DJ a guideline of the types of music that
you want to hear. Just remember that your wedding day is a time
to celebrate, so dance and enjoy yourself!
